Prayer 24 Hours Each Day Year Round

The Prayer Ministry at Leawood started in the converted kitchen of a house which Leawood had purchased across the street from the church property. The house had been converted to Sunday School classes. It began May 12, 1974 at 12:01 AM with Glyn Frost at the first intercessor. 168 people signed up for 24 hour prayer.

With the vision that God wanted prayer as a focus in the life of Leawood, Dr. Jerry Glisson led the church to build the Prayer Tower in 1982. Combining the traditional aspects of church building by including a steeple as the pinnacle, Leawood added a unique building to the landscape to let all know that prayer is the key to any Christian success.
