Music Ministry

A Place to Believe, Belong, and Become

The music ministry of Leawood Baptist Church involves all ages. All are welcome regardless of musical experience.

Adult Choir
• Our adult choir presents God's music weekly in our Sunday morning service. We are an integral part of our worship as we sing hymns, anthems and praise and worship songs within our service. We present special cantatas and other programs throughout the year including Easter and Christmas.
• The adult choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:30.

Children's Choirs
• Our children serve God in the only way they know how - with energy and enthusiasm. Our children's choir presents special musical programs throughout the year as well as participate in associational events and visits to nursing homes.
• The children's choirs rehearse on Sunday afternoon at 5:00.

Praise Teams
• A praise team is an important part of our worship each Sunday morning. This is a member auditioned team and provides an excellent opportunity for one to take their turn at the mic.
• There are also other small groups and ensembles in which one may participate.

Worship Music
• We are blessed to have many talented and gifted people involved in the Music Ministry. We hear soloists and other special groups almost every Sunday.
• We are also blessed to have gifted musicians who provide instrumental offerings in various ways during each service.

It is our desire that God will use the Music Ministry to be a ministry of service.

Our Philosophy of Ministry:

• Worship and the leading of worship are at the heart and core of the Leawood Baptist Church Music Ministry. It IS what we are about.
• We believe that God created each person to be a worshiper and that within the heart of each person is the yearning to worship Jesus Christ as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Nothing will ever satisfy or fulfill that need and inner desire except active participation in worship of Jesus Christ, the Lord.
• We believe God has called this ministry to lead all of His people at Leawood Baptist Church in worship - young and old alike. Thus, we strategically design our worship ministry to meet the needs of a broad, culturally diverse, congregation. We seek to teach and train men and women, boys and girls to be worshipers.

The Mission of the Music Ministry:
• To exalt Christ and make disciples through public and private worship.

Our purpose:
• To develop and nurture men, women, boys and girls as worshipers.

Our objective is:
• To edify and encourage the Leawood Baptist Fellowship with engaging opportunities for worship and praise; Evangelize and reach out to the community, region and the world through comprehensive music ministry; Train musicians as worship leaders; Teach biblical concepts of music and worship, and, Promote the various and diverse ministries associated with our church.

In addition to planning, preparing, and presenting comprehensive worship and praise for weekly gatherings, the Music Ministry actively seeks to involve people in the Sanctuary Choir, Senior Adult Choir, Children's Choir Ministries, Instrumentalists, Small Vocal Groups, Soloists, and the Celebration Worship Praise Team.

It is our desire that you will catch the vision and join with us as we strive to minister in this very important area in the life of the church, church music.
